RESUMO

The Reactive Optimal Power Flow (ROPF) is a computational optimization tool that dispatches all reactive power sources of an electrical power system. It is extremely important in power system planning, operation and voltage collapse simulation. Its mathematical modeling involves nonlinear nonconvex equality constraints and linear and nonlinear nonconvex inequality constraints, making it a large scale, hard to solve, optimization problem. A Lagrangean formulation is used with parameterization, quadratic penalty, augmented lagrangean and interior point methods. A new interior point barrier function is introduced for handling linear inequalities. The solution of a ROPF problem is found through a Newton algorithm using sparse matrix formulation. A testing software was developed, written in a compiled programming language using dynamic memory allocation. Among the advantages of the ROPF implemented in this work, are constraint factibilization, minimization of objectives and voltage stability analysis. Results are obtained for systems up to 1732 buses
