RESUMO

This study presents a methodology for economic feasibility studies of the applicability of absorption cycle air conditioning systems in buildings in Brasilia - DF using natural gas as fuel. The verification process of economic viability here presented intends to be applied in existing buildings as well as in future projects. The elaborated methodology uses engineering resources, investments analysis, financial math and technician aspects of air conditioning installation. To verify the applicability of the proposed methodology, a study case is presented in order to evaluate the viability of the use of absorption chillers in the building of Procuradoria Geral da República DF. Therefore, an economic comparison of compression chillers as well as absorption chillers was established. In this case study three scenes were evaluated using the proposed economic evaluation criteria. In this manner, the methodology proposal for this case has allowed a suitable comparison among the two alternatives of projects identifying the best option from the economical criteria.
