RESUMO

The complexity of the area of practice of Health professionals requires the development of competences, translated into knowledge, abilities and attitudes, which enable multiprofessional performance in the promotion of health, taking the premise that management competences should permeate nurses professional training and form the basis of the work process, based on the concept of management as a guiding axis for nursing care. Thus, the objective of this research was to identify the insertion of these management competences in nurse training, through the study of the teaching documents, teaching plans and Teaching Curricula of the Nursing Course of the Universidade Regional de Blumenau, Santa Catarina. It is a descriptive and exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, which uses content analysis of the records based on the teaching documents of the course analyzed. The study was developed using the theoretical framework of management competences and professional education. A tool was used to categorize the management competences, in which management attributes were listed in predefined categories and subcategories. This produced a total of eighty subcategories, enabling a more in-depth study, and revealing the gaps listed as a contribution of this study. The content of the teaching documents indicates that knowledge, skills and attitudes are included in the nurses training, but the gaps found also need to be mentioned: the power relationships in the work process in health and its influence on health management; participation and social control in the planning and execution of health actions and; the inclusion of the determining factors of quality of life described in the PNPS (National Policy for Health Promotion) in relation to smoking, the abusive use of alcohol and drugs, morbid-mortality of traffic accidents, prevention of violence, and sustainable development, due to their importance for regional development; theories of group work; the labor legislation; and the needs of the team of health professionals. The study proposes themes for group discussion among teachers of the course studied, aiming at the collective construction of adjustments to fill the gaps identified. The development of this study provided an immersion in the complexity of professional nurse training, and management, revealing a growth in management knowledge and knowledge of the Health System which are indispensable for professional performance
