RESUMO

The experiment was conducted in the Itutinga and Camargos damns, Companhia EnergÃtica de Minas Gerais CEMIG (Energetic Company of Minas Gerais- CEMIG), town of Itutinga â MG, had a 2-year duration, with the purpose of verifying and establishing basic limnologic criteria to discipline and orientate the establishment of raceways in hydroelectric power-station damns, research the influence of fish farming in raceways, taking into account the stocking capacity in the damns and elaborating a proposal if zoning of the damans for establishing of raceways. For the limnologic criteria, significant values as to the year (p<0.05), dissolved oxygen in the Itutinga damn and phosphorus and transparence in the Camargos damn were found. As regards the collection spots, significant values (p<0.05) were observed for the ammonium nitrogen of the surface water of the Camargos damn. The values of limnologic parameters found are within the recommendations for the cultivation of aquatic species. According to the survey of the area of the damns studied, a spot for the Itutinga damn with an area of 2.83 ha was determined and so was a spot for the Camargos damn with an area of 1.66 ha. The stocking capacity of the selected spots is of 9 raceways of 12 m3 with a yield of 31.27 ton /year for the Itutinga damn and of 8 raceways of 12 m3 with a yield of 30.03 ton/year for the Camargos damn.
