RESUMO

The objective of this study was to construct and validate a tool for research that could raise the conceptions of technology and technology education for high school teachers. The instrument was built based on a literature review on technology and technology education. Once was made and modified by a group of six experts, and conducted a validation semantics presenting the instrument for a group of twenty teachers. The instrument was answered by two hundred and forty-eight middle school teachers and the data were treated by a factor analysis and verified by the internal consistency, Cronbach Alpha. The analysis provided four factors that explain 45% of the variance, and indicate that the technology is good for humans, to the relationship between people and peoples and improves the quality of equipment. However, it should not be taught in schools because students are not receptive, missing materials and the school does not allow. Nonetheless, the teachers believe that practical activities such as the use of artifacts, and experiments mounted equipment are good for teaching science.
