RESUMO

The Research Multimodal literacy and the text in classroom is the result of the analysis of discoursive practices used for the teachers in a 7 grade, of Basic Education class, in a public school of Ceilândia, city of the Federal District. I investigated in what measure the discoursive practices adopted by the teachers of Basic Education had influenced in the interest for the reading of multimodal texts.Theoretical basis of this dissertation are: (i) Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), formulated by Fairclough (1989, 1992, 2001, 2003) and by Chouliaraki and Fairclough (1999); (ii) Multimodality agreement by Chouliaraki and Fairclough (1999), Kress and van Leeuwen (1996). (iii) Literacies defended by Barton (1994); Barton and Hamilton (1998, 2000); Hasan (1996); Heath (1982, 1983) and Street (1984, 1993,1995). The work was developed with basis on the qualitative methodology and has its mainly original theoretical basis on the postulates of Bauer and Gaskell (2003) and Flick (2004). In the analysis, I worked to verify in which way the teachers guide their pupils on the discoursive practices in relation to the multimodal texts and if this work contributes for the critical construction of the speech of the pupil and, still, which are the orientations as for the multiple functions and meanings of the Literacies, underlying the discoursive practices used by teachers. The application of the analytical categories made possible, also prove that the images complete discoursive arguments from part of the spoken speech or written and that the composition of the verbal and visual language is not neutral. Therefore, the school must search to build and transform the reality, by means of an education of production and reading of multimodal texts.
