RESUMO

This paper analyses the discussions about teacher training and work that have been gaining momentum in the educational agendas of the region in recent years. It argues that the proposed forms of regulation are heteronomous modes of imposition that are contradictory with their declared goals in terms of professionalization and teacher autonomy.
