RESUMO
Research has shown how important is the history of science for designing and developing didactic units, for its value to promote learning and for its contribution to the students attitudes and the image of science that they learn. Physics faced a strong crisis at the beginning of the 20th century when the quantum hypothesis was introduced. The discrete distribution of energy was against the well established theories of electromagnetism and dynamics. We have proved that traditional teaching is far away from considering the problems that the photon concept had to overcome until it was accepted by the scientific community, and this makes learning more difficult. To do so, we have done a historical research with didactic intention in order to analyse the most used physics textbooks in the Spanish upper secondary school last course.
