RESUMO

When examining the problems of secondary education in Spain, it is necessary to analyze the historical context in which they occurred, the fundamental reforms of the last forty years, the successes and failures that were experienced, the current situation and future prospects. Only then will we find ourselves in a position to establish the appropriate policies for the future.
