RESUMO

The comprehension and transformation of the reality today in Latin America requires a reflection concerning several aspects of people's lives, especially in education. Historically, education has been surrounded by many teaching approaches -learning intends to fuse the dependence, exclusion, and poverty from the vast majority of people from the region. The purpose of this article is to depict this situation; with a depth emphasis in the reality currently experimented - from the very first days of the Conquest to the present - by indigenous people in education context and Latin American development.
