RESUMO

This dissertation hás as its object to study the role played by apocalylpicism in the history and the social context of the redaction of the Isaian oracle in Isaiah 24,1-6. The proposal is that its function was of great importance in the formation of post-exilic Judaism, fomenting a reidentification and re-ethnicising of the Isrealites-Judeans in a context of nationalistic and religious frustration which generated a great deal of theological heterogeneity. We identify this context as the environment in which there took place a complex process of socio-theological transition in the history of the Judeans during the period of Persian domination. Apocalypticism as a religious and sócio-historical phenomenon shows itself as the result of a hostile and dehumanizing reality in which a theological-cultural identity and the socio-economic relations of persons were under extreme threat and were being violated, creating a contraposition to the plans of Yahweh expressed in the covenant established by him for his people. By way of research and an exegtetical analysis of Isaiah 14,1-6, the present dissertation proposes that, based on this conflictual reality, the Isaian apocalypcistic prophecy manifests itself against the structures which generate segregation and inhumanity, and their articulations, throwing up hope, in the transforming act through the mediation of Yahweh, the Lord of History, which makes possible an historical turnaround, beginning with which it will be possible to reconstruct relationships which will be favorable in the social and spiritual ambit.(AU)
