RESUMO

This present essay studies the relations between the Catholic Church and the institution of the mass media. It deals whit the slow process of approach from this institution in relation to the media society and it charts media. It focus the transfer of hegemonic power in the exercise of communication, from the Church to the Technologies of Information and Communication (TICs), taking into account the challenges they present to the religious communication. By developing a research-action according to what Thiollent proposes, it tries to find challenges and potentialities of interactive and virtual communication through the computer net, in the Christian faith affirmation and the evocation of spiritual values.
