RESUMO

The development of multimedia systems ensues the creation of man-machine interfaces that allow a more natural interaction. This paper describes a command input device able to recognize user gestures. Recognaissence is done by a user trained neural network, to fit specific working media needs. The device uses a handheld ultrasonic transmitter, steered to a set of sensors close to the computer in use. The device movement is time sampled using a series of digital timers integrated in one EPLD, preprocessed and fed to the neural network for interpretation.
