RESUMO

This thesis has the purpose of verifying the presence of humor in reports published at the Political section of Folha de S. Paulo and O Globo newspapers referring to the scandal of mensalão from June 6, 2005 to July 12, 2006. This proposition broaches the use of humor in its most diverse categories, such as irony, sarcasm, mockery, satire and the grotesque in journalistic texts that have provoked the political criticism of Brazilian Parliament and its characters. At the total, 365 issues were examined for each vehicle. To the end, 11 were selected from which 69 stories were analyzed for having prevalent existence of humor in their texts. Unusual facts, theatrical characters, anonymous which took the scene and dominated the newspapers, by the end, nothing went unnoticed in the eyes of the narrator journalists. By the pragmatic analysis theory of the narrative, it was possible to observe the language games which were present not only in the published texts, but also in the layout of the reports and as well as in the choice of images used to illustrate them.
