RESUMO

The object of this study was to verify the resistance to tension strength of total and inlays MOD metalic crowns, cemented to human teeth with glass ionomer Iutins cement Shofu GIaslonomer and resin-modified glass ionomer Iuting cement Vitremer-3M. Sixty-four sound, recently-extracted human molars were used. The dental crown of each tooth was machined initially in a mechanicalIathe until the form adequate for the preparation for a total and inlays MOD crown was obtained, Iather, "the handpiece was used to frnishthe preparation. The total and inlays MOD crowns were obtained by the 10st-waX dental casting method, using a Ni-Cr based alIoy. The prepared teeth, with their respective cast croWllS, were separed into eight groups of 8 teeth each, cemented with the two cements, with and without termical cycle. Analysis of the variations recorded, in reference to the Tukey test, showed that the average - values obtained for the eight groups did show a statistically significant diferences in the comparison of the two rpaterials, and with the two preparation, with and without tennical cyc1e. Analysing the resuIts the autours conc1uded that the resin-modified glass ionomer Iuting cement Vitremer-3M have the most resistence of tension strength in alI cases, except with inlay MOD metalic Ni-Cr crowns with termica) cycle
