RESUMO

The objective of this study was evaluate the influence of different restorative procedures in the resistance to fracture of endodontically treated teeth submitted to internal bleaching procedure. Fifty central upper incisors were divided into 5 groups according to treatment: GI- healthy teeth (control); GII- endodontically treated teeth sealed with Coltosol; GIII- endodontically treated teeth bleached and sealed with Coltosol; GIV- endodontically treated teeth bleached and restored with composite resin; GV- endodontically treated teeth bleached and restored with fiberglass post and resin composite. Forty teeth were subjected to endodontic treatment (GII, III, GIV and GV) and thirty (GIII, GIV and GV) received buffer cervical and bleaching treatment with hydrogen peroxide to 38%. The gel was applied in vestibular surface and pulp chamber, followed by application of light for 45 s in vestibular and palate surface, with an interval of 5 minutes between each application. This procedure was repeated 3 times per session, for 4 sessions with the waiting time between them for 7 days, and then each group received the respective restorative tratament. Teeth were submitted to fracture resistance test in Universal Machine-Test (kN). The Kruskal-Wallis test showed no statistically significant difference between groups (p<0.05), and according to the Dunn test, GIII (endodontically treated teeth sealed with Coltosol) had the lowest average value (0.32 kN) and was statistically different (p<0.05) of GI (control - 0.75 kN), GII (endodontic treatment without bleaching - 0.67 kN), GIV (endodontic treatment, bleaching and restoration of composite resin - 0.70 kN) and GV (with endodontic treatment, bleaching and restoration of composite resin + fiberglass post - 0.72 kN), which in turn, showed no statistically significant difference between them (p>0.05). It was concluded that the restorative procedures of composite resin gave back the resistance to fracture of the teeth endodontically treated with internal bleaching.
