RESUMO

In this research it was evaluated the influence of the last apical instrument of the ProTaper system associated or not with the 2.5% sodium hypochlorite in the cleanness and shaper of flattened root canals. For this study 32 mandibular central incisors were used, gotten in the tooth bank of University of Joinville, which had been divided in six experimental groups of five teeth each: GROUP I - F1 instrument associated with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite; GROUP II- F2 associated with the 2.5% sodium hypochlorite; GROUP III - F3 associated with the 2.5% sodium hypochlorite; GROUP IV - F1 associated with the distilled water; GROUP V - F2 associated with the distilled water; GROUP VI - F3 associated with the distilled water; The two remaining teeth had been annexed to the group have controlled negative, or either, without instrumentation and irrigation. The specimens had been prepared following the principles of the technique proposal by the manufacturer and between an instrument and another five ml of the irrigant solution was used. After this phase, the specimens had been submitted to the histological preparation, morfhometric analysis and a software scion program analysis. The attainment of results had been carried to the statistical tests and in the cleaness evidenced statistical significant difference at 1% level between all tested groups, except between Group I and Group VI. In the shaper was statistical significant difference too between the instruments, except betwenn the irrigant solutions. The results showed that none technique promoted total root canals clean, and the technique that prepared apical third with F3 instrument and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite revealed to be more effective.
