RESUMO

The area in which this thesis was developed lies on a hydrographic basin of Rio do Peixe, State of Paraiba, Brazil; formed by 18 towns with an estimated population of 215,787 inhabitants, distributed in an area of 3,991 kmÂ. In this investigation, the production of the space has taken place through the acknowledgement of the space itself, where it is started with its geoenvironmental characteristics which offer the possibilities to interact positively in order to reduce the environmental impact produced by them, therefore, proposing alternative forms of occupation and manipulation of areas. Based on an interdisciplinary point of view, the geoscience knowledge is used with the aim to better lead a living space; conserving, preserving and even recovering it. Firstly, it was done a survey on the elements of the natural landscape characterizing it statistically. Secondly, this same landscape is being analyzed in a dynamic form, afterwards with the purpose of elaborating a map of environmental vulnerability of the basin of Rio do Peixe, which makes it possible to locate the areas, making the following division: stability areas, instability areas and the intermediate ones. However, if there is no preventive actions in relation to the intermediate areas, there would be changes in their evolution, towards the instability area which would lead to a reduction in the quality of life. Unfortunately, men have felt threatened by their citizenship rights. It is believe that, throughout the geoscience knowledge it is possible to promote a link of technical-scientific approach, with the purpose to reduce the environmental impact so as to produce a better quality of life; in this way, science is no longer a speech to a given staff; it gets a pragmatic approach in order to reach the base of the current society
