RESUMO

The aim of this research is to investigate some psychodynamic aspects which were observed during a case study on three asylum participants: a child and two adolescents who were abandoned by their parents in their early years, and live in two orphan asylums in Campo Grande, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. To achieve the aim, it was used the Freehand Drawing with Stories, the HTP Test, the Family Design, carried out a clinical-qualitative research and a participating observation. As a supplementary technique, semi-guided interviews with the child and the adolescents were also held by using the life history in documental sources. The data underwent hermeneutic analyses with psychodynamic comprehension approach. After this analysis, five study themes were defined according to the contents and meanings which were found: family perception, affection perception and expression, abandonment experience, view on the asylum and future perspectives. The results revealed, in the studied cases, difficulty in internalization of the family concept. The view of the family is a confusional environment, which is neither able to give affection nor to enable development, producing difficulties in the process of identification and identity formation in those studied cases. As for the perception and affection expression, it was observed: excessive use of projection and denial mechanisms, ego restriction, envy, and tying and object-relation disorders, poor affection expression. Concerning the perception of the abandonment experience, it was noticed the presence of feelings, such as: anger, pain for the abandonment, restraint, guilt, shame, aggressiveness, antisocial tendency, mental confusion, low self-esteem, depression. The asylum is, on the one hand, seen as a support and safety, where it takes repressing aggressiveness in order to keep on being guarded and protected by them. On the other hand, the asylum is, sometimes, seen as the authority that generates feelings of anger once it raises the fantasy of causing familiar separation and keeping the control. In the future, they all showed, the wish for parental care or making a new family, which makes us recommend further studies and more actions in order to avoid or treat emotional problems derived from the children and adolescents abandoning. This is a case study so that it does not permit the generalization of the data which were obtained and discussed.
