RESUMO

The present dissertation is a study about the formations of quilombos in the Province of Rio de Janeiro during the 19th century. The main objective is to reconstitute the sceneries of struggle and resistance of the communities of fugitive slaves, as well as their interaction inside the slavish society. While we try to recover the varied historical elements of the slavery worlds, with emphasis to the slaves and the quilombolas, we intend to analyze the complex relationships between the mocambos and the communities of slave quarters in the rural areas of the mentioned Province during that period.
