RESUMO

This work is about the study of the high-resolution stratigraphy and organic geochemistry of the Tremembé Formation, in the Taubaté Sedimentary Basin-SP, of Cenozoic age. This work is based on the Total Organic Carbon contents (TOC), total sulphur contents and Insoluble Residue contents (IR), Rock-Eval pyrolysis data as well as the results of gamma rays spectrometry. These data were obtained from selected samples of coring from two shallow drillings, respectively 55,40 m (borehole TMB-01-SP) and 18,02m (borehole TMB-02-SP), resulting of continuous coring throughout the shales interval of the Tremembé Formation. The analyzed interval of the Tremembé Formation was divided in nine chemostratigrafic units that were correlated with the Rock-Eval pyrolysis data and the data of gamma rays spectrometry. Based on the results of Rock-Eval pyrolysis data, was verified that the great majority of the organic matter of the Tremembé Formation is of type I, that is rich in hydrogen and poor in oxygen, corresponding to the best type of organic matter for the generation of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons. Chemostratigrafic units D and F are the ones that present the greatest potential of generation of hydrocarbons, corresponding to the papyraceous bituminous shales. In the section studied in the borehole TMB-SP, were identified five levels with TOC contents around 20%. Of these five levels, two of them present TOC contents higher than 30%. When considering the Rock-Eval pyrolysis data, these two intervals are the most interesting ones relatively to the generating potential, since they represent values of S2 that exceed 100mm HC/g of rock, and values of IH always higher than 600.
