RESUMO
This dissertation had the goal to investigate the mechanisms of the melodramatic representation in a determined period of the movie work of the Denmark movie maker Lars Von Trier, known by Trilogia do Coracao de Ouro, that consisted of the movies Breaking The Waves (1996), The Idiots (1998) e Dancing in the Dark (2000). In order to do that, the work was divided in four parts: the first one promotes an academic literature revision about the melodrama in the movies, the second delineates an outlook of the evolution of the melodramatic representation through time, showing the origins and modes of operation; the third and fourth parts focus on the film trajectory of Lars Von Trier up to the analytical goal chosen, investigating the internal organizational mode of the movies elements and the effect these compositions address to provoke the viewer. This dissertation used as an analytical-theoretical perspective the methodology known as Poetica, proposed in the Movie Analyses Laboratory in the Graduate Program in Contemporary Communication and Culture at the Federal University of Bahia under the orientation of Professor Wilson Gomes.
