RESUMO
This dissertation is about a case study on management actions in violence situations. The actions are part of the way how the management team deals with violence situations in the school. The violence study requires a wide understanding about the way it happens, in order to be possible to act on its causes. This work tries to identify the variables that interfere in the school: the ones that make part of the school and the ones that are against the school, articulating them to the transformation process, from direction to management, which the educational managers have been through. To identify the way how the management team acts, it was necessary to find out how students, teachers and school managers see the violence at the school space. Afterwards, the relationship between political-pedagogical project, internal regiment and management actions to confront the problem was engendered. The goal was to comprehend the management practices on the conflicts solution. The research took place at a school located in Salvadors outskirts, with high rates of violence, from a sample of 103 students, 10 teachers and 5 members of the management team. In order to collect the data, the focal group, the semi-structured interview, the questionnaire administration and the systematic observation were the chosen methods. The results indicated the occurrence of low sociability at schools environment, the lack of an efficacious rules system and of a feeling of belonging at school councils participation process besides the presence of drugs and bullying as psychological and physical causes of the violence cases that occurred during the research. The work was concluded with the presentation of strategies that may strengthen the management role in violence situations.
