RESUMO

This study addresses a management and participative experience in a school situated in São Paulo City. Kept by a private non-profit institution, this school has adopted this structure and working paradigm since its creation, approximately 40 years ago. The analysis has been based on two theories. On one side the accumulated knowledge about subjectivity, especially systematized by Fernando González Rey. On the other side, the fundamentals and the instruments of the Strategic-Situational Planning, indicated by Carlos Matus (1931-1999), Chilean economist and researcher. The results of the research indicate that the school organizations can have their efficiency and effectiveness improved when people who are part of them set up participative channels. The main focus is the possibility to support managers, teachers and workers, students and parents in a constant evaluation of schools structure and work, always aiming to allow the access to all citizens and keep them in the school system until the end of schooling years with a teaching of quality. Knowing that the social situations are built historically and, therefore peculiar, the purpose of this study isn t to make any school managing models. However, it aims to offer some considerations about the implantation, development and evaluation of the participative managing paradigm
