RESUMO

The Pindorama Cooperative, located in Coruripe, in the Alagoas state is an agroindustrial experience, with fifty years of existence, which has always incited curiosity. To some, it is an example of profit and land distribution; to the social movement sectors it is a âfronting cooperativeâ, which reproduces the capitalâs logic. This research was motivated by such doubt, after all what kind of cooperativism orients the ordinary practices within the cooperative? The study seeks to diagnose, specifically, the mechanism used by the cooperative to promote the participation of the cooperated group in the institutionâs decisions. For that some indicators were used: motivation of the cooperated for the cooperativeâs creation; institutional forms of broadcasting the entrepreneurâs information; collective construction of propositions; regularity of the meetings and assemblies and the cooperatedâs frequency in these forums; political and educational formation in the perspective of new leaderships; cooperatedâs alternation in the executive direction and in the fiscal council; cooperatedâs economical participation in the wealth produced and policies oriented towards a greater participation of women, young people and black people. Throughout the research a permanent dialogue with the conceptual accumulations regarding participation and self administration oriented by other experiences that identify themselves with the proposal of solidarity economy
