RESUMO

Some alternatives to the three-phase cage-rotor induction machine application in electric power generation were analyzed in this investigation. The proposed generation systems ensure satisfactory energy quality, as they are able to maintainbalanced three-phase voltage, with sinusoidal waveform and constant frequency at 60Hz. These systems are intended to be employed in unregulated-haft turbinedriven microhydroelectric power plants to supply rural as well as low-densely populated areas. The induction generator is connected to the AC side of a voltage-fed PWM inverter, which operates with constant fundamental frequency, maintaining constant synchronous frequency at the generator leads. Thus the system power-balance status is indicated by the inverter DC-voltage, which can be egulated through the AC or the DC load-control; as well as through the operation as single- phase utility-grid connected cogenerator. Moreover, a governed shaft-speed induction-generator based system was investigated. Such an alternative is intended to be applied in fuel-engine driven systems. The experimental results led to the conc1usionthat the studied structures are robust and feasible with rated power up to 50 kW...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
