RESUMO

ABSTRACT During WWI were numerous enough emigrants and their children or grandchildren who left their families in America to go to fight in European armies. Through the analysis of some facts as voluntary enlistments and epistolary correspondence of soldiers from the front, but especially through the modes of memories and literary representations of the Italo Brazilian case during the war and under fascism, this survey aims to focus on the meaning and value of the war watershed as regards the keeping and transformation of sense of national belonging among the protagonists and their family members or friends who had remained in Brazil.
