RESUMO

The standard photography documentation has been used as a tool of morphology assessment, becoming a source of objective information when compared with the visual site. The importance of the measurements in the front part of the breast area is due to scientific and juridical aspects, being another auxiliary method of evaluation before and after surgery. The measurement by direct anthropometry (measuring tape, compass ) are routinely used in clinical practice, however the analysis for photogrammetry allows accurate results. Objective: Compare breast measurements by digital photogrammetry and direct anthropometry. Methods: 40 volunteers from female gender, (age range 18-60) had their breasts and arms marked with 14 points, 6 anatomic and 8 anthropometric points. From the points were traced 8 linear segments and 1 angular to each hemi-body. The volunteers were photographed in the standard manner as positioning, framing photographic, correct perspective and scales to software calibration. The photos were then measured by computerized photogrammetry evaluated by direct anthropometry using a tape-measure, compass and protractor. Results: There were differences in all of the measurements taken using the three methods analyzed. Conclusions: There were no equivalencies between the measurements taken by direct anthropometry and computerized photogrammetry; however the analysis of intra examiner showed high predictive value for photogrammetry.
