RESUMO

The present study understands the photograph as information source and looks for the analysis of the photographic document and historical possibilities. The research has beginning with the emphasis of the subject in its base, the attempt to point out development of the photograph in a social and historical context, and finish with the proposal of a methodology to subsidize the analysis of images, that will be able to elucidate a preparation for the indexation of the photographic document. For the development of suggestions we had been taken as base, previous studies considered of great relevance for the research in the area to multidiscipline in which the photograph if it finds. Amongst the studies used for the research the consensus was common enters the authors on the necessity of iconological, iconographic and historical analyses. Another observed aspect, was the condition of the support of the photographic image, or either, therefore in the case of not digital images, the quantity of information that one has supported congregates innumerable, and is considered important to disclose given on the image. This is the result of an experimental work based in previous scientific studies.
