RESUMO

This study was done at the Municipal School of Goiânia, Goiás, together with seventeen teachers of the cycles I and II of Fundamental Teaching. The objective of this study was to diagnose the needs of continued education, in service, of these teachers. This research used as a method of procedure, a qualitative research, by means of the case study approach. The collection of data was done by three techniques: documental analyses, classroom observation and interviews with the teachers. The documental analyses searched to identify information in the documents of Project School for the twentieth first century of the Municipal office of Goiânia and the Political Pedagogic Project of the school considered referential for the practice of the teachers. The in classroom observation investigated the nature of teacher-student-object of knowledge. The interviews made possible to know and understand the representations, necessities, expectations, values and beliefs of the teachers for the different aspects of their profession. The trans-crossing of this data allowed the establishment of connections that reviewed the teachers necessities for continued education.
