RESUMO

The present work carried out in the Cabuçu Lake, in the city of Guarulhos State of São Paulo. Brazil identified and catalogued the 63 species diatoms. The more representative diatoms found attached on aquatic plants, in all samples, were Cyclotella meneghiniana, C. stelligera, Eunotia pectinalis, E. formica, E. monodon, Pinnularia braunii, P. dactylus, P. viridis, Frustulia krammeri, Surirella linearis, Ulnaria ulna, Tabellaria flocculosa. These taxa characterize oligotrophic waters, with acidophile ph (lightly acid), chains limnophile, mesoterm temperature (between 15o a 30 C), epilithic, epiphytic, mainly planctonic periphytic habitats and oligohalobic salinity (salt concentration less than than 5 g.l-1) and oligossaprobic, whereas the species Gomphonema angustatum, G. gracile, G. augur, Nitzschia pusilla, N. palea, Fragillaria construens, ynedra acus, characterize a eutrophic environment lightly; such communities had been in isolated points of the ecosystem, as the seaweed collections in the right arm of the lake, in the P6 point, the months with high rain precipitation, that, probably indicate organic substances brought by superficial draining of the nearby region, known as Recreio São Jorge quarter.
