Fitossociologia da vegetação arbustivo-arborea em quatro areas de caatinga em Pernambuco

RESUMO

A photosociological survey was carried out in four caatinga (thorn woodland) áreas in the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brasil, in the municipalities of Floresta (Fasa e Poço do Ferro) and Custódia (left and right margins of Boa Vista). Twenty-five 10 x 10m plots, 20 m apart, were laid down in each area, in a 5 x 5 plot grid. All woody plants with at a height of at least 1 m and having a stem diameter at soil level wich was equal to or grater than 3 cm were sampled. Standing dead individuals were also included, but lianas and bromeliads were excluded. Soil samples were taken at center of each plot at depths of 0 ? 20 com and 20 ? 40 cm. A total of 1748 plants were identified, belonging to 23 families, 33 genera and 56 species. Fasa, Poço do Ferro, Boa Vista, left margin and Boa Vista, right margin had 24, 25, 22 e 28 species, 1876, 2172, 1076 e 1872 ind./há e 15,84 , 15,62 , 34,29 e 20,82 ?m POT. 2?/ha of dominance, repectively.
