RESUMO

This study has as its main goal to verify if the gender and age make any influence at loss aversion level. The results taken are based in collected data through questionnaire applied to 91 professionals and 425 students from the accounting area of Natal, RN. The problems used in this research were based in the work developed by Kahneman and Tversky in 1979, when they identified the phenomenon of loss aversion. The analysis of the results was divided in three studies, nominated according to its goal. In Study I Professionals and Students Analysis versus Gender the goal was to verify if the gender makes any influence in their loss aversion. In Study II Professionals and Students Analysis versus Age the goal was to be able to know if the age range makes any influence in the loss aversion. In the so-called Study III Students Analysis versus Professionals Analysis the occupation of the questioned was verified as making any influence in their loss aversion. The results of those three studies showed indications that both gender and age as such as occupation made influenced on both professionals and students at their loss aversion level. However, when the quantity of problems used in the questionnaire is taken as a base, it may be concluded that those three factors make no significant influence at loss aversion level of the questioned.
