RESUMO

The objective of this research is to contribute for the Portland cement concrete study with addition of fibers used on pavements. This research studied the results of different dosages using steel fibers in order to optimize their use as well as direct care during mixing and application. The Portland cement concrete pavement has been acting with an important role on the Brazilian scenario and it is recommended specially in areas of heavy traffic or when the subgrade has a low load capacity. However, constant research has been carried for a better performance on flexural strength, decreasing the cracking due to shrinkage, reducing the noise level, and promoting a better adherence between tire-pavement. Several methods for the dosage of this material have been developed, but there is a need on seeking a determination that presents a better response in relation to the interested properties of the pavement. This research used a simple methodology, but adequate for the material, bearing in mind the assumptions necessary for the proper performance of the pavement. It was verified the performance of different dosages with steel fibers embedded in the concrete paving and also guidance on care during mixing and application
