RESUMO

The production process of co-products is characterized by the processing of only one specific raw material to obtain several final products. This is a typical process in the majority of chemical, petroleum and agricultural industries strongly developed in Brazil. Some examples are coffee, fruit juice and sugar cane processing plants. This paper proposes a system that aims at processing management that takes into consideration the treatment of process-related variables such as volumes and flow rates, as well as economic factors, labor, material costs and selling prices. This system allows the process manager to set up the instruments and equipment working conditions, to obtain maximum profitability and best cost-benefit ratio by the adjustment of product ratio. This paper presents a physical-economic management model to be used in the analysis of the operational results of co-product process production. The system is primarily based on the Co-products Process Production, Strategic Business Unit and Continuous process Monitoring System. A it does not take into account fixed allocation cost, the economic model of the co-products processing makes use of direct cost defrayal system. The Strategic Business Unit makes use of the result-centered administration, in which each activity defined in the process is responsible for its own result based on managing best-practices of the whole chain of productive process from raw material to finished products. A Continuous Process Monitoring Systens, is composed of a fully integrated information technology system that supervises the equipment and machinery of the whole productive process. Such Monitoring Systems are largely used in continuous process plants in the management of instruments and equipment, monitoring their status and making diagnostics of malfunctions and predicting failures. To summarize, each business unit is responsible for its own costs and results which are a function of market and economic fluctuations. In these BU-based units companies the final results will be dependent on such fluctuations. The decision actions are easily improved using the proposed model.
