RESUMO

The cover and management of the soil (C factor) is considered the more important factor for reduction the soil losses by water erosion, in the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) model. With objective of evaluate the soil losses ratio(SLR) and soil cover and management factor, was carried out a field experiment under natural rainfall in an Inceptisol with 0,102 m m-1 slope, in Lages (SC Brazil), from November 2002 to October 2005, consisting of six crop cycles. The parameters were evaluated in five stages, with base in soil cover by plants canopy. Were studied three soil management systems and two crops. Management systems were conventional tillage, with plowing and disking (PD), chiseling plus disking (CD) and no-tillage (NT), cultivated in sucession with soybean (Glycine max) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), compared to a check plot without crop (WT). The SLR and C factor varied among soil management systems and between crop cycles, and indicating a strong effect of the soil management and rainfall over those variables. The NT, during soybean cycle reduced the SLR in 85% and 48% in relation a PD and CD, respectively, and in 60% and 55% in wheat cycle. In average for the three studied years, the C factor values for soybean were 0,073 (PD), 0,016 (CD) and 0,007 (NT) Mg ha Mg-1 ha-1 and for wheat 0,126 (PD), 0,083 (CD) e 0,035 (NT) Mg ha Mg-1 ha-1. For the sucession soybean-wheat, the C values were 0,198, 0,099 and 0,042 Mg ha Mg-1 ha-1, for PD, CD and NT, respectively.
