RESUMO

The use of pyroligneous extract in the cultivation of plants is improvement of development. The effect of the use of different shot of pyroligneous extract in vegetative of two orchids of the gender Cattleya was studied in greenhouse. Used plants Cattleya intermedia Lindl and Cattleya loddigesii Lindl, grown in pots containing substrate composite coconut fibre, husk pinus, carbonized rice husk (1: 1: 1 v/v/v). The irrigation were carried out manually, every twice weekly in autumn and winter and three times a week in spring and summer. Following treatments: T0 - 0% (no pyroligneous extract), T1 - 0.1%, T2 – 0.2%, T3 – 0.3%, T4 – 0.4%, T5 0.5% and T6 - 0.6%, these values correspond to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mL.L- 1 respectively. Treatments were achieved by the dilution of pyroligneous extract concentrated on water and application of 50 mL per vase each 30 days. After 12 months from the beginning of the experiment were evaluated the following variables: height of aerial part (APA), buds number (NB), leaves number (NF), pseudobulbs number (NP), higher root length (CMR), roots number (NR), higher leaf length (CMF), total fresh mass (MFT), dry air mass part (MSPA), mass drought root and hydrogenionic potencial substrate (Ph). Chemical analysis leaf was held for the following elements: calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and nitrogen (N). The pyroligneous extract was effective in the cultivation of species Cattleya intermedia Lindl. and Cattleya loddigesii Lindl.. The recommended shot of pyroligneous extract to the specie Cattleya intermedia Lindl is at the range of 0,3 to 0,4% (0,3 to 0,4 mL.L-1) and for the Cattleya loddigesii Lindl the best shot was 0,6% (0,6 mL.L-1). The application of 0.3% of the EP in species Cattleya intermedia Lindl., promoted an increase in the number of buds, this variable is the characteristic most valued in the cultivation of orchids because it ensures an increase of number of flowers.
