RESUMO

We have tried to develop some aspects of the problem of relationship with other people in Merleau-Ponty s work. Often, classical thought reflects upon educative process, opposing the individual to the social, assuming the Solipsist thesis. The Solipsist thesis affirms that I am the only one who exists, the other beings (men and things) being just ideas, or sensations that are mine. As such thesis is accepted, a relationship with others and with the world is taken as being primarily one of denial, communication being reduced to a conventional language. For Merleau-Ponty, existence implies a relationship of openness to others and to the world.
