RESUMO

Its is studied in this work the solvent evaporation phenomenom in both waterborne and organic system and a particular methodology is proposed to predict evaporation time and solvent balance of such system. Initially, the solvent evaporation process is presented and the mathematical models found in the algorithm which is able to use experimental or calculated relative evaporation rate to simulate the composition dynamic behaviour and the drying time of solvent blends is developed. Effects such as: ambient relative humidity, drying air speed liquid solution cooling and non-ideal solution behaviour, with the activity coefficients of the components been calculated by the ASOG Group Contribution Method, are some of the aspects that have been considered. In addition to a good reproduction of the available data found in the literature, the values calculated by the proposed algorithm satisfactorily fit the real behaviour of many systems. The practical and safe use of the computer is confirmed in several simulations and the Phases Equilibrium Thermodynamics is shown as an essential tool for the success of the study
