ÉTICA, ESCRITA E LEITURA DA HISTÓRIA: OS PROBLEMAS DA EXPECTATIVA E DA CONFIANÇA

RESUMO
Resumo O funcionamento da verdade no texto de história não depende apenas de suas condições epistemológicas, mas também de uma relação ética entre historiador e leitor. Paul Ricoeur indicou que nessa relação se estabelece um pacto tácito de leitura, um contrato em que o historiador garante ao leitor que a narrativa apresentada é "verdadeira". Michel de Certeau, de outro lado, trabalhou tanto sobre o funcionamento interno dessa maquinaria de produção de verdades (a operação historiográfica) quanto sobre o caráter ativo da leitura. Cruzando tais insights, proponho que devemos pensar a respeito dessa relação ética entre autor e leitor, considerada aqui nas categorias de confiança e expectativa.Abstract The functioning of truth in a history text does not depend only on its epistemological conditions, but also on an ethical relation between the historian and the reader. Paul Ricoeur proposed that such ethical relation is based upon a tacit reading pact, a contract in which the author ensures his reader that his narrative is "true". On the other hand, Michel de Certeau has worked both with the internal functioning of the machinery that produces truth (the historiographical operation) and with the active character of the reading process. As such, I propose that one should engage with this ethical relationship between author and reader, and that such engagement can benefit from a reflection on the categories of trust and expectation.
