RESUMO

The compounds, potassium, rubidium and cesium tetrafluorborates were prepared with boro in natural abundance B=80,4% e B19,6%) and enriched to 97% B. Infrared spectra by Fourier transform were obtained for polycrystalline samples in order to study the effects of the different cations K+, Rb+ and Cs+on the spectra of the compounds. The observed spectral data have been discussed based on the isotope wavenunber ratios due to B/B substitution and by comparison with the results of the factor group anaIysis and normal coordinate anaIysis. The results show that the coupling due to the correlation field is weak in these compounds, which allowed the interpretation of the results based on the site effect only. Furthermore, despite the structural differences between the compounds with different cations, the spectra obtained are very similar which suggests that the effects of these cations on the vibrational spectra are very similar.
