RESUMO

In this research, we investigated the photochemical behavior of b- cyclodextrin (bCD) encapsulated Parsol 1789 sunscreen, under ultraviolet radiation UVA (320-400nm). The inclusion complexes stoichiometry was determined measuring the diffusion coefficient, through the Taylor-Aris technique. The experimental results confirm the complex Parsol:bCD 1:2 stoichiometry I which was expected due to the involved molecules geometries. A photochemical study on the free and bCD included molecule was carried out in some solvents. The samples were irradiated with UVA light and probed using fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy. The chemometric method developed by Lawton and Sylvestre was employed in order to resolve the spectra obtained. The results showed that bCD complexation did not increase the Parsol photochemical stability, regardless the employed solvents. However, it may decrease the effects related to photoallergy / phototoxicity through inclusion of the products formed during photolysis.
