Estudo numerico e experimental de fonomeno de estratificação termica em armazenamento de calor e frio

RESUMO
The objective of this work is the numerical and experimental study of liquid stratified storage tanks by sensible heat. A two-dimensional model is employed based upon the equations for conservation of mass, momentum and energy. The numerical solution is obtained using the control - volume method due to Patankar. The degradation of stratification is analysed for the natural cooling, with stationary tank, and some parameters influencing charging and discharging operations. The two-dimensional model is simplified and the numerical results are showed for hot and cold storage, where the models are compared with each other. The simplified model is accurate only during the first instants. Numerical results are compared with experimental results of other authors, and a reasonably good agreement is obtained. Finally, the numerical and experimental results for the natural cooling, charging and discharging operations are compared and a good agreement is again obtained
