RESUMO

This work evaluated the superficial roughness of Z100 and Compoglass light-cured fillings under polyester strip, produced by different types of dental brushes .It was made 64 samples for each material (8 mm of diameter for 2 mm of thickness) light-cure for 60 s with a XL 3000 (3M) light curing unit. The samples were stored by 24 hours in stove at 370 C and 100% of relative humidity. Them, they were divided in 2 brushed groups, using water or water and toothpaste, and subdivided in 4 subgrupos in agreement with the brush type: Oral-B 30, Alcance Reach Control, Kolynos Doctor Flexível and Colgate Total. After the toothbrushing test, the samples were analyzed in a Prazis perfilometer. Soon afie r, the samples were mechanically toothbrushed with a speed of 250 stroke/min, under pressure of 200g, in a total of 30.000 cycles. After the superficial roughness of the samples were analyzed and the results we[e submitted to variance analysis, at the levei of significância of 1 %. The results showed that the toothbrushing produced roughness without statistical diference in the restoring materiais, when was used water. Compoglass brushed with toothpaste associated with dental brush Oral-B 30 presented the largest average, followed by Alcance Reach Control and Kolynos Doctor Flexível, that didn t differ statistically, and Colgate Total with the smallest value of roughness. No diference for Z100 surface roughness was noted with toothpaste and diferents dentais brushes, because the material strenght was harder than toothpaste abrasion one.
