RESUMO

This thesis presents the geochemical study of three oil samples: PCM1, PCM2 e PCM3, all pertaining to the Marlin Field located in the Campos Basin, Rio de Janeiro and were generated by saline lacustrine source rocks. The crude oils were studied by the gas chromatography coupled whith mass spectrometry (GC/MS technique), and standards were used in this research synthesized in our laboratory or supplied by CENPES-Petrobrás. The oils were separated into two main fractions, the neutral (hydrocarbon) and acidic fraction (carboxylic acids). In the neutral fraction important classes of biomarkers, which have not been studied, were identified in these oils such as monoaromatized steroids, monoaromatized alkyl steroids and carotenoids The acid fraction of these oil samples has not been studied. The acids were derivatized into hydrocarbons, and then analyzed. The classes of biomarkers identified were: n-alkanoic, terpanoic, alkil steranoic and alkil monoaromatic steranoic acids. One other stage of the work corresponded to the synthesis of 12-methyl-18--norergosta-8, 11, 13, 22-tetraen-3b-ol, which is a precursor of biomarkers derived from ergosterol, an intermediate for preparation of some classes of biomarkers
