RESUMO

The delivery of products starts on the acknowledge fulfillment. The classical solution for transportation has target in vehicles capacity, as it happens with freight cars, trucks and vessels, which can be contracted through a time charter or a voyage charter. When transportation is performed with a fleet of trains of pusher-barge, with four barges and two pushers, in a process of cyclic voyages between two port terminals, periodically is arriving an empty barge to be loaded in loading terminal, and at the same time is arriving a loaded barge at unloading terminal to be unloaded. The decision of postpone the sailing of a train of pusher-barge in order to complete the barge capacity is a possible way, but with changes in the voyages cycle. This decision may cause losses in transport production, due to the reduction of the quantity of voyages, and furthermore not fulfill the demand and the transportation yearly plan. The meeting of production and transportation process in many opportunities is far from optimization, what recommend a storage area for sustaining the flux of products to transport capacity of intake. The visibility of this interface between production and transportation, in the tactical level, indicate that simulation procedures, regard to the production and transportation, may be a valuable tool for support the decisions that will reach the operational level of the supply chain.
