Estudo do estresse do enfermeiro com dupla jornada de trabalho em um hospital de oncologia pediatrica de Campinas

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to investigate the presence, levei and intensity of emotional stress as well as its psychological and physical symptoms in nursing personnel who do double job and the ones who do not. This study was conducted at the Boldrini Children s Center in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil.The study sample consisted of 33 volunteers, 24 of these volunteers did double job and nine did not. The participants were of both sexes and their ages ranged from 23 to 51 years. The instruments used for data collection were the Stress Symptoms Inventory - LlPP (SSI-LlPP) and the Visual Analogical Scale (VAS). The SSI-LlPP results demonstrated that stress was present in 22 subjects - 17 of these subjects were on double job and tive were not on double job. There were 11 individuais in the study sample who did not demonstrate the presence of stress and seven of them were on double job while four were not. From ali the subjects studied (33) 60% was in the resistance phase. The answers to the VAS questionnaire showed 11 subjects with a high levei of stress, 13 individual with a medium stress levei and nine presented a low stress leveI. The most commonly cited symptoms were constant tiredness, tense muscles and unreasonable irritability. CONCLUSION: In. both groups, the individuais classified according to the stress phase were in the resistance phase. A great majority of the individuais in both groups presented a medium levei of stress. Psychological symptoms predominated in both groups. The subjects who did double job presented more stress than the ones who did not. Key words= stress, nursing staff, double job, shift work
