RESUMO

Due to the crescent number of women managing organizations all over the world, the objective of the study was to identify the personal and professional profile, considerations and understandings about female entrepreneurship of a group of women who participate in a business association in Blumenau, SC. The intentional sample was the twenty one women members of the Câmara da Mulher Empresária, participant nucleus of the Associação Empresarial de Blumenau (ACIB). The research was divided in three stages. In the first and second stages it was descriptive with quantitative method, for the rising of the personal professional and entrepreneur characteristics of these managers, based on what extols Miner (1998) for the entrepreneurs profile. In the third moment, through exploratory research, with the qualitative method, it was known their understanding female entrepreneurship. The data collection was first through questionnaires structured in blocks and the analysis was descriptive, through tables, pictures and graphs. After data collected were analyzed through statistical procedures of multi analysis. In the third part it was adopted the technique of focus group, based on a briefing, with nine entrepreneurs with larger prominence in the entrepreneur characteristics. The context analysis was the procedure adopted for data analysis in this stage. The results show that managers have age between 41 and 60 years, mostly married and with children, and with academic background. Most work more than nine hours a day. They participate, on average, with 50% of the value in the family budget and the companies they manage are in general small or medium. The entrepreneur profiles of larger predominance are Superseller and Accomplisher. The results of the relation between the professional and entrepreneurs characteristics show that the closest relation of each entrepreneur profile are: Superseller with companies that are in the market more than 15 years and that play in the internal market; Accomplisher with companies that play in the feeding area and daily dedication time between 9 and 10 hours; Authentic Manager with companies that play in the business accounting and daily dedication time between 7 and 8 hours and the Generator of Ideas with rating form companies between 25% and 50% and that play in the beauty, health and natural products area. For the results of the third stage, in a general way, they are considered, enterprising of success. They understand that the knowledge and the dedication to the company and sharing the vision and the objectives of the company with the team are primordial and inherent ingredients to the female entrepreneurship and that these assure the success. The results still show similar characteristics between the entrepreneurs and predominant factors of success as: determination, effort and dedication. The managers have, in principle, characteristics and understandings similar to those found in studies regional, national and international field of female entrepreneurship
