RESUMO

This study was verified the roughness, stain over composites surfaces and the relationship between of both when three finish/polishing techniques was applied. The surface analysis was obtained with a perfilometer and spectrophotometer method. The data was analysed by Kruskal-Wallis test. The statistical analysis showed that the same finish/polishing technique produced different scores of roughness (Ra) over the composites surfaces; that the same composite submited at different finish/polishing techniques could show different scores of Ra; that the best finish/polishing technique was obtained with the Sof-Lex discs and with Diamond Points the worse. Different composites could produced equivalent stain scores independently of finish/polishing techniques; different finish/polishing techniques could produced different stain level over the surface of the same composite; Sof-Lex discs produced, except for TPH composite, the minor stain level. There wasn t a direct relationship between roughness and stain levels
