RESUMO

This work presents a theoretical analysis of the dynamic behavior of locomotives on straight tracks. A mathematical model with thirty-nine degrees of freedom is developed and eingenvalues and eigenvectors, natural frequencies and dominant motions are determined. The excitation forces include vertical and lateral directions track irregularities, which are represented by a rectified sine wave and by a continuous sine, respectively and a1so random forces. The wheel-rail interact ion is based on the linear theory proposed by Wickens and Blader. The equations of motion are derived by applying Lagrande s equation on the generalized coordinates and the time domain response is obtained by numerical integration methods. The response in the frequency domain is obtained through the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The influence of some parameters on the locomotive dynamic response was observed
